Mw. mr. Peggy Franssen

From 1999 until September 2008 I worked as a lawyer at Everaert Immigration lawyers in Amsterdam. Before 1999 I worked as an officer, first at the Immigration and Naturalization Department and later at the Court in The Hague, section immigration law. I graduated in Dutch Law in 1996 at the University of Maastricht.

I am mainly specialized in immigration law: family reunification (partner and children), foreign employees, self -employed entrepreneurs, knowledge migrants, but also in European immigration rules and (Schengen) Visa. I have also experience in nationality law and international adoptions. Apart from immigration law I handle cases in the area of family law.

For me it is very important to be able to provide my clients with reliable and up to date legal advice which is also payable. Because of my long experience and knowledge in the field of immigration law I can make a good estimation if a case will be successful or not. I do not like to take legal action if there is no chance of winning. I am very honest about this to my clients.

Immigrants are entitled to have good legal protection against the powerful government, especially when fundamental human rights are at stake. In some cases the national restrictive immigration law (especially for family reunification) violates international human rights conventions, like the European Convention on Human Rights and the UN Convention on the rights of the child. Or the negative decision is not according to European Directives concerning migrant workers and their families. I can only see myself as a good lawyer when I denounce such violations in Court proceedings.
